We discussed a lot about Deaf cultures and manners and how they may differ from what you are typically used to. When introducing yourself what may seem out of bounds for normal conversation may not be.
We are next going to start talking about the Deaf President NOW movement. This does not refer to a deaf president of the USA but of Gallaudet University. This is the only University that uses ASL as it's primary language.
Many issues were brought to light in this March of 1988. What happened was that the University's board of Trustees appointed a hearing individual to the the president of the only University for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing instead of the other top 2 candidates.
